What is Zumba?
ZUMBA is a high energy "feel good" workout that features Latin and International music/dance themes in an exciting fitness system that anyone can do! The routines utilize repetition set to pumping music to keep you motivated. ZUMBA also combines the principles of fitness interval training and resistance for complete body toning.
Zumba’s infectious and hypnotic rhythms are also good for the mind and soul. Take a trip to the East through Bellydance, Bhangra and Bollywood; The Caribbean Islands through Calypso and Soca, Spain through Flamenco. South America and Latin America through Cumbia, Reggaeton, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and more…. And of course, we can’t forget our all-American Hip-hop!
First class is free, bring a friend! Beginners welcome- men and women!
What should I expect?
You can expect to be challenged, sweat, and most importantly, have a good time!
For the most part, Zumba is repetitive making it easy to catch on to. However, at first, like all new things, some steps may seem challenging. Students with no dance background have informed me that it takes at least 4 classes to feel like they are on top of the moves. When in doubt, keep moving and remember, learning new steps also helps the brain stay young!
Wear comfortable workout clothes and athletic shoes. Bring water and a towel. Please bring a clean pair of shoes to dance in (not the ones you arrive in). The Karate Club would like to preserve their floor.
For your first class please arrive a few minutes early to fill out paper work. I look forward to meeting you!
